Ok, I'll admit, I LOVE Halloween! Growing up in the UK it was never really a celebrated holiday so it was this magical, foreign concept we'd see in American tv shows and movies. I always longed to be able to dress up and go trick or treating! Since moving to the US I like to go all out... I guess it's throwback to my teenage goth phase! So... this year, no surprise that I wanted to build a shoot around it. I like the idea that Brides don't have to wear white anymore; as more and more couples embrace the non traditional, really, anything goes... For lots of people, black is their go to color, so I wanted to show that you can still look, and feel, like a Bride without giving up your staple!
Natalie De Haven and I had been chatting on our last couple of shoots about wanting to do something dark & edgy so I knew she was go to girl for the cake, and man, she knocked it out of the park. The black marble? The delicate sugar flowers? Seriously, I don't know how she does it!
Grls studio in Tacoma is such a great venue, and the bright white walls lifted the whole vibe so it didn't feel quite so much like a Halloween Party!
Shane of Damond Events Floral built the most amazing floral installation (the stuff of Pinterest dreams!) and Carli of Derive Design Collective created the cutest watercolor, hassled place cards and black invitation suite.
Our models Carley & David are a real life couple, which I think is pretty evident! Carley is a wedding photographer who I met when I first moved to WA and Daniel is a full time model so definitely a pro in front of the camera!
The whole thing was gorgeously captured by Marnie Cornell, who is not only an awesome photographer but a great friend.
