Dairyland in Snohomish, about an hour outside of Seattle, has to be one of my favorite wedding venues in the area. It's light bright space is the perfect blank canvas for whatever design you choose and the backdrop offers breathtaking mountain views for that perfect PNW wedding vibe!
When I started planning this shoot back in December it was the midst of winter, and my instagram feed was full of dark and moody weddings. I guess you could say I was missing hose hazy summer days full of muted brights and soft light and I wanted to create something fun & fresh with oranges, corals and peaches and contrast that with teal for a modern vibe.
Our couple, Laura & Drew are getting married 'for real' in a few months so this was really a practice run for them and they brought along their actual bridesmaids and groomsmen to pose for the shoot, which gave the whole day a feeling of authenticity and made it so fun for everyone involved.
For Laura I chose the Pauline Pantsuit & Overskirt from Sarah Varca Bridal. The tulle overskirt gave it a glamorous and romantic feel for the ceremony and group shots, and then we used the pant suit alone for the bar and photo booth shots, which gives it a totally modern and fresh vibe. Our beautiful bridesmaids wore teal silk dresses from Nordstrom.
LiSun Goh created a chic and modern updo for Laura that perfectly highlighted the high neckline and open back of the gown and used corals and turquoise eyeliner to bring out her eyes and tie in with the overall theme. Our bridesmaids were styled by Shyn Midili of Pacific Brides.
When ever I look at real wedding features on blogs, it's always the little details that interest me, so I really wanted to focus on putting as many details into this shoot as possible, to inspire my couples and showcase my designs. The ceremony backdrop was one of my favorite pieces. I asked Larxhead to make this ombre piece which looked absolutely perfect with the stunning floral installation from Colibri Blooms and vintage boho furniture from Wander Event Rentals.
Bespoke Tacoma also contributed a beautiful watercolor sign featuring a Pablo Neruda sonnet, as well as making all the other signage for the shoot.
I wanted the tablescape to be bright and fun, but retain an elegant romantic feel. The blush plates and gold flatware from Wander Events contrasted beautifully with the coral watercolor cotton napkins from Wolf and Irving and the modern geometric coral candle holders from Anthropologie, while the stunning centerpiece tied everything together.
Our show stopping neon bright cake was made by Nancy of Saltadena and it tasted every bit as good as it looked! Alexandra's Macarons also contributed treats for the dessert table and favors, with incredible flavors such as Almond Rose, Earl Grey, & Activated Charcoal Honey Coconut.
On the day, we were blessed with incredible sunshine and Dairyland totally lived up to expectations. As well as the beautiful barn space they have gorgeous suites for the bridal parties to get ready and a wide variety of gorgeous outdoor backdrops which allowed us to set up a relaxed boho lounge area outside as well as really utilize Vanity Photo Booth. I'm loving all the balloon installations around right now and so built the peach and orange arch to contrast with the bus and bring it together with all the other colors from the shoot.
Our vendor team was sensational and everyone worked together to turn my vision into a reality.. while drinking wine, beer from the next door brewery, and eating yummy treats. It was almost as much fun as a real wedding! Carley Jayne captured the warmth, fun and sheer romanticism of the whole day so perfectly with the beautiful images. I hope you love it as much as we do!
